Engineering Preparation Checklist

What should I prepare for an office network relocation?

Before an office move, gather the new site's location and status, computer and equipment positions, LAN outlets, Wi-Fi requirements, relocation date and building management requirements. You can then enquire about LAN, Wi-Fi, fibre or server room work together. Do not guess unknown specifications; the engineering team can assess them.

Tell Us What You Need

Start with the New Site & Relocation Schedule

Record the location, building type, whether the site is under renovation or operating, your preferred completion date and daytime or out-of-hours work requirements. For an office tower or large shopping mall, ask building management about work permits, insurance documents and access hours where applicable.

Plan LAN Outlets Around Equipment Positions

Use computer, phone, printer and other equipment positions to estimate LAN outlet numbers. If the cable type is not specified, Cat6 can be a starting point for assessing general office needs, with the final choice based on bandwidth and site requirements.

Wi-Fi Planning Goes Beyond Floor Area

Record the floor area, floors, walls, glass rooms and long corridors, along with concurrent users, devices, existing APs / switches and any brand preferences. AP numbers and coverage require assessment of the site, interference and usage.

For Server Rooms or Fibre, Explain the Changeover Requirements

If you need to relocate a rack, replace a switch or connect two server rooms, record equipment quantities, connection endpoints, acceptable downtime and the available work window. Equipment lists, network diagrams or photographs can be provided during follow-up.

Agree on Handover Requirements Before Work Starts

You can request LAN outlet and fibre labels, AP / switch equipment lists, network separation settings and test documentation. If relocation or changeover involves downtime, confirm affected equipment, the work window, backups and recovery arrangements first. Actual testing and documents depend on the confirmed quotation scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I enquire without a floor plan?

Yes. Start with the location, site status, equipment quantities and relocation date. A floor plan or specifications can be marked for later confirmation.

Is my selected site visit date confirmed?

No. The date is a booking request only. The actual visit time, charges and applicable conditions require team confirmation.
